Westgold is looking for an enthusiastic and safety‑focused Pit Technician to join our open‑pit mining team. If you enjoy hands-on fieldwork, close collaboration with technical teams, and being at the heart of daily mining operations, this is the role for you.



This role will be offered on a family-friendly, 8 days on, 6 days off roster FIFO from Perth.



About the Role

As a Pit Technician, you’ll play a key role in ensuring safe, efficient, and accurate open‑pit mining activities. Working closely with geologists, surveyors, and mining supervisors, you’ll help deliver quality ore, maintain compliance, and keep the pit running smoothly.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Support grade control drilling activities, helping ensure precise and effective mining operations.
  • Collaborate with geologists and surveyors to complete accurate ore mark‑ups and clearly define dig boundaries.
  • Monitor ore mining processes to minimise ore loss and dilution, ensuring high‑quality extraction.
  • Oversee open‑pit activities, such as dozing, grading, and dewatering, while maintaining strong safety and efficiency standards.
  • Assist with blast movement tracking to support optimal material movement and pit performance.

What You’ll Bring

  • Previous experience in open‑pit mining or a similar operational field (preferred)
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A proactive, safety‑driven mindset
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced outdoor environment
  • An understanding of mining processes and pit compliance (advantageous)
